"totte", a children's interior design product exhibited at the Fukuoka Design Awards 2021, won the Gold Award.
I went to the final judging, which was held at the Fukuoka Prefectural Office on Wednesday, October 27th. The 50 nominated works that made it to the final round included SHIKI's "totte."
Looking around the venue, all the entries had fantastic ideas and designs, and it would not have been surprising if any of them had won an award.
Among these, totte was highly praised for its design, which was considered as children's interior decor, and for the texture and details that were handcrafted by SHIKI's craftsmen.
The development of totte received support from many people, including designers SATEREO (Sato 3D Design Office), Okawa Interior Research Institute, professors from universities in Fukuoka Prefecture, and other knowledgeable people, as well as companies that cooperated with the processing.
I believe that this happy result of winning the gold award was achieved with the help of everyone involved. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude once again. Thank you very much.
Now you're 5 years old, it's your first time experiencing personal space.
The final stage of early childhood, between the ages of 5 and 6, is when sociality develops and children become able to calmly observe and judge the situation around them. Their self-esteem also develops, and they begin to have their own rules and judgments. Another characteristic of this age is that it is a good time to prepare for the development of thinking skills in preparation for entering elementary school, and it is the perfect time to start experiencing and playing in personal space.
Based on this background, totte developed a stool and desk for kids to meet the needs of parents who are too young to give their children their own rooms, but want to give them a designated place where they can concentrate to read a book or draw.
